As the Salimpour School of Dance expands, we’re excited to announce online belly dance certification for Level 1 of both the Suhaila and Jamila Salimpour Formats.

We understand that sometimes it’s difficult to make it to a certification workshop at the Mothership or with one of our Level 5 instructors. Maybe the dates and times just don’t fit in with your busy schedule, or you live a little too far away to make it happen.

We’ve heard your requests, so now your dream of beginning your certification with the Salimpour School can be a reality.

With our online certification program, you will:

  • Work through the Level 1 material with specific online classes specially selected to prepare for the certification exam
  • Get direct feedback and guidance from our highly-trained and knowledgeable Level 5 instructors
  • Earn Salimpour Format certification in the comfort of your own home, on your time

Guided Study with Top Instructors

Just as you’d take an online course at your local community college of university, our online course offerings are taught in sessions, kind of like mini-semesters. Each week, you’ll complete assignments related to the theme of the week, including taking specific online classes, reading specific chapters in our books and manuals, and practicing playing the Level 1 finger cymbal patterns.

The Suhaila Format course is 6 weeks long, and the Jamila Format course is 5 weeks long. Each course also allows dancers 30 days to submit their testing materials.

With our online certification courses, you’ll know exactly how to prepare, which online classes to take, and which resources to study.

Get Personal Feedback

Our online certification courses are moderated and guided by our Level 5 instructors, so you will be able to ask questions and quickly get the answers you need.

For additional coaching, students in our online certification courses are encouraged to set up private lessons through the video chat service of your choice, such as Skype or Google Hangouts. Students who have taken advantage of our online private lessons have found them to be invaluable as they train for the next certification level.

Take the Certification Exam on Your Time

Once you’ve completed the course, you’ll have 30 days to submit your certification test material. What does that mean?

You’ll video yourself performing specific drills and exercises to demonstrate that you understand can do the Level 1 material. You’ll get this assignment at the end of the course. We hope that you’ll take the whole 30 days to polish your video, making it as clean and accurate as possible. We want you to succeed!
