I see dance being used as communication between body and soul, to express what is too deep to find for words.

Ruth St. Denis

As an exercise just for fun, think back on your  belly dance performances and imagine that someone in the audience was watching your dance as communication or expression.  What did your dance say or convey?  What was the message or feeling that person might have received, whether intentionally or unintentionally?

In the Salimpour School and Certification Programs, we discuss the various levels of and connections between performance and art. Are you an entertainer, an artist, or a performing artist?  Do you have a responsibility when you perform on a public stage to entertain or to express something deeper?  If you have a message or feeling, does it translate through your work in the way you intended?
