We’ve heard from many of you that you worried about earning the continuing education credits (CECs) to keep your certifications current.
With the novel coronavirus disrupting many planned in-person workshops with Suhaila and instruction with our licensed instructors, you might feel like you won’t be able to get your CECs in time.
We’re not going to let you lose your certification status because of this unprecedented event, but we do want to make sure you know that there are far more options of earning CECs than just taking in-person workshops and classes.
Why do we require CECs anyway?
The Salimpour School offers a full educational program in belly dance. And like dance itself, the program is constantly growing and evolving to meet the needs of our students and to stay current in our field.
We never want our students to feel stuck or stagnant, which is why we’re constantly evaluating our program, adding materials, and adjusting our curriculum to give you the best education we can.
It’s so important that you keep connected with the school so that you can stay current with what we’re creating for you, but also so that you can keep your training fresh and inspired.
So here are 5 ways to earn CECs right now… or at least in the very near future!
1. Just announced! Private coaching sessions with Suhaila Salimpour (3 CECs / 1 hr)
We are so excited to announce that Suhaila Salimpour is offering private coaching sessions over video chat!
Work with Suhaila on your technique and performance skills, even public speaking, non-verbal communication, building your business, personal branding, and so much more. You’ll benefit from her lifetime of experience, helping you set goals, overcome fear, and uncover your potential.
To get you started, book your free 15-minute consultation with Suhaila today.
1 hour of coaching with Suhaila earns you 3 CECs.
2. Online private lessons with Level 5 instructors (2 CECs / 1 hr)
One of the easiest, and fastest, ways to earn CECs is through online private lessons with our Level 5 instructors. Working one-on-one with an instructor, live or online, is the best way to get immediate feedback for your specific questions about technique or choreography. With so many video chat options available today, it’s easy to see your posture, alignment, movements, and more.
Reach out to a Level 5 instructor (scroll down to the last section) and schedule your lesson.
An hour session is worth 2 CECs.
3. Level 1 Online Courses (15 CECs)
We typically run several Online Level 1 courses in a year, both in the Suhaila and the Jamila Formats.
These multi-week sessions run much like an online class at your local community college. We run them through Google Classroom and our Online Class website. Each week, you receive specific assignments, including classes delivered to your online class account. One of our Level 5 instructors runs the course, so you can ask them questions any time, and they’ll get right back to you.
We ask that you already be Suhaila Level 1 certified before taking the Online Jamila Level 1. This prerequisite doesn’t apply to in-person workshops, which you can take in any order.
Our Online Level 1 courses also have the option of testing. If you decide to test, you’ll receive a testing packet. Follow the instructors, and submit your materials before the deadline and you’re good to go!
The next Suhaila Level 1 begins on April 19, 2020, and runs for 6 weeks.
Each of our online Level 1 courses are worth 15 CECs.
4. 1 Year of Online Classes (5 CECs)
An easy and fast way to earn CECs is to purchase a year subscription to our online classes. You’ll get instant access to hundreds of belly dance and other movement classes with Suhaila, school instructors, and master classes by guest instructors.
In order to earn these CECs, you’ll need to purchase a full year, not just be subscribed for a year through other monthly or quarterly plans.
A year of online classes is worth 5 CECs.
5. Streaming classes with licensed instructors (1 CEC each)
As you might have seen, several of our licensed instructors are offering streaming classes online as they comply with shelter-in-place orders from their state and local governments because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Abigail Keyes, Rachel George, and Angelique Hanesworth are all offering online options.
For the time being, these classes are worth 1 CEC each, just as they would be if they were taught in person.
