Most of us have heard the phrase: “Shut up and dance”. And in my classes I often say “no more resistance”. What I mean is to forget all those things that hold you back–all the “what if’s” and the “I can’t do’s”. Especially while you are in the classroom, silence the negative voices, stop explaining, and stop disclaiming. By liberating yourself from all the resistance, for at least that one class, you give yourself freedom to grow; and the pathway for learning and understanding is clear and open.
The more you turn off resistance and the more you silence the negative voices, the more you will get out of your efforts. Even small moments of focused, earnest work contribute to your goals. Give what you can in those moments, and your effort will be enough. You will be enough.
